Breathe

Breathing…
She’s not sure she’s standing,
She knows she can’t walk.
In, out. In, and out.

Running…
Can’t stop, can’t breathe anymore.
Her song seems gone,
Snatched by the wind beating her face.

Waking…
She tosses and turns.
Sleep is so far from her it seems a dream.
Waking is a nightmare.

Hiding…
Buried beneath the memories,
Concealed in the darkness of her own
Frightened soul.

Hoping…
That she is beautiful,
She really isn’t drowning…
Her heart is still beating—it must be.

Fighting…
Up through the darkness,
There’s a pinpoint of light
Where she can see His blood…

Living…
She steps from the shadows
Shot through with glory
And breathes.
He doesn’t need more to live through her.
