Time Out

Okay, enough stress. With my hormones all over the map, I need to take some time to remind myself that there *is* life outside of my health issues. Time for an anecdotal post!

*My three youngest siblings came to visit us two weeks ago. In the midst of a Scrabble game, my youngest brother, Jonathan, informed Pete (who had been qvetching that he had not yet learned to read upside down) that he had learned to read upside down years ago. "That's how I used to cheat in Sparks!"

*Piper has begun singing herself to sleep. I guess I have sung to her more than I thought. With my recent voice loss, however, I suppose she decided to fill the need, and now no matter where we are, she begins singing (quite loudly) whenever she is about to sleep.

*When I got my blood drawn this morning, I complimented the nurse on her kindness in not digging around in my arm for my vein. "I don't want them digging around on me! Especially not when you have that nice vein smiling up at me right there!"

*Conversation Pete had with a homeschooling mom who noted: "My daughter's not the brightest tool in the shed." I didn't tell Pete that I didn't catch that one until well after he'd ridiculed it to me...

*Have you ever considered how easy it is to get *into* D.C., and how terribly difficult it is to get *out* of it? You guessed it. 495 strikes again!

*Ethical dilemma of the week: My desk is at the window that overlooks our green. Across the green, I can see that our neighbor has left her car's headlights on. They have been on for well over an hour. But Piper is asleep. I can't leave her here by herself - but if I take her with me to alert the neighbor, I will have absolutely no time today to do anything around the house. The things you never considered when you found yourself a stay-at-home mom.

*Oh yeah, and Virginia drivers ought not to be allowed on the roads in any weather that even *hints* of slippery.

!!!AMEN!!! on the Virginia drivers comment!

I knew it would be bad, and so forsook rt 7 to follow back roads. I heard nightmarish stories from others who took an hour to go 5 miles that normally takes 10 minutes, from someone who needed 4 hours to make it to work for what normally took less than 1 hour, and from someone who lives 4 miles from work and took over an hour to get there!

I always gush over a good blood test myself. It's dreadful when they poke around, but you hardly notice it when they do it right!

I hear ya on the hormones! I keep blaming my hormones on the weather - but it's probably just because I'm a woman. ;-)

Did you consider calling said neighbor?

Since we just moved into our neighborhood, we don't know said neighbor or her number!
