Baby Rememberies - for my Piper

Sunday, September 20, 2009

You were born and
three months of
working around you
flew by me too fast so that

I nearly missed you

and your sweet, vulnerable affection
for this new
not
so
tender
mama.

But I do remember

sun-mornings
watching you dream
listening for your baby-breath to
tell me you were still there and

you were not a dream of my own.

And I held you more because
I could then
so we knew you were safe,
you and I.

I wish

I made more of your tender so
that I had learned to be
who you just knew
I am.

Awww...what a sweet poem! I feel like I 'missed' my Z's first 7 or so weeks, too, because I was so caught up in the sleep I was missing out on, etc. I pray I can be more present when this one comes!

Beautiful. I can't decide if your words or your photos are more beautiful. Can't.

Now, I want my 6 month baby to wake up, so I can go enjoy some of his tender.
