Good Gifts

Sunday, January 31, 2010

This was my photo for the weekend. For the week. For the month.

I got my new computer on Saturday. It is a power-horse of a machine - the fastest I've ever had, and that with over 72,000 images on it. I have hundreds of photos to process from the last several weeks. The processing is much faster now.

But this is the shot I wanted. The one that made me squeal when I caught it on the review screen, the perfectly-timed silhouette that got me out of the car to show it off, even though it was freezing, I was freezing, it was muddy.

I'm out of words tonight. I think I used them up talking with Pete today.

I don't have as many as I used to.

My thoughts come out in disjointed feelings, in fascination, in nonsense-chatter to baby, in pictures so real I swear they are speaking.

I am aware tonight. That I am not who I was, that I'm not sure what I am, that I don't know where I'm going. Old dreams mix with new, responsibility entangles passion; I am looking for a voice that isn't mine right now.

But this picture - this one gives me words. "Yes" words.

"If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" (Mt. 7:11)

I'm fresh out of ideas for what to ask. But the promise of His "yes" makes such a lovely picture to go to sleep on.

That photo made ME squeal :) Absolutely lovely!
Yay for new computer, can't wait to see more of your pictures from the past few weeks.
And I feel like recently my words have been forced, and I don't like that. Hopefully we'll find ourselves soon enough.
Sending you hugs...

Beautiful!!
As for being out of words ... that happens to everyone sometimes and the wise ones know it's okay to not always say something.
You've got wisdom, girl!

Being aware tonight? That is the greatest gift. Noticing is the gift that gives back to the one who gave it. Lovely.

Lovely picture. I could spend some time just looking at it and mecditating on the verse you put with it. Thank you so much for sharing!

Delightful photo. I must say, that verse makes all the difference.

I can only imagine how much this image must move you at this point in your life.

The picture, the new machine, the family, the dad and daughter who would be found in such a position . . . all good. All good.

I have to say, I saw this earlier this morning and truly had a brilliant comment -- amazing, day-changing words -- to share. I really did.

And then a 15-year old needed help tying a Windsor knot around his neck before school. Life changing thoughts gone. Now you get this, with my apologies. :-)

Hoping for a few free minutes today for you to cruise around with your new horsepower.

This picture is fantastic in so many ways. From the beach-grass on either side to the amazing evening sky, right down to Piper's little winter hat with the ball on top. I can't stop looking at it.
