Carwashes

I like car washes. They can be rather fun, because they have lots of surprises. Sometimes, the force of the water surprises me when it hits the car. And sometimes, the color of the soap surprises me. Or, have you ever been to one where you have to put the car in neutral and let the carwash pull your car through? I get surprised when I don't freak about letting go of the control. Usually the biggest surprise is how dirty my car was and how clean it is when it comes out. "Gee, I can see out the windshield!"

Well, I got a different surprise in the carwash last night. My boyfriend decided just after the undercarriage wash and just before the presoak that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. So just as the soap started flying, he tossed his romantic ideals into the spray and looked at me.

"Will you marry me?" He asked, with a look that made me realize that he wasn't actually joking this time, and the only pressure he was feeling was the water pressure from the first rinse.

I completely collapsed into laughter as I realized that he was actually proposing to me in a carwash. "You're actually proposing?"

"Yes"

"You're not joking?"

"No."

He tried to absolve himself from the first flustered ask with, "Will you do me the great honor of giving..."

I lost the rest of his sentence as I went off into another round of giggles, not sure if I should dignify his question with a yes or just laugh all the way home.

Finally, I managed a, "Well, there is a huge part of me that is just... Like DUH!!!"

I have the COOLEST fiancé ever.

This picture is from the day after the proposal. Thanks to Caleb Quezada for the shot. Yes, Pete is talking.

We're getting married on October 9, 2005.

Okay, we are totally going to have to kidnap you guys and do a shot-gun wedding in the car wash before the 'official' wedding. Oh, please--please, please, please, please, please? That would be sooo cool!!!

You're right Kelly, that is SO AWSOME. God's blessings on you both! And personally, I'd avoid going through a carwash with anyone else from now on.
