Bah, Humbug

So.

I'm not in a Christmas mood this year.

Almost every evening, I wander into our living room and find myself rather astonished to see a Christmas tree standing in the corner next to the piano. What's it doing there? Drying up, is what it's doing there. And I think it's making me sneeze. Not my husband, who is reported to be allergic. There's a twist of irony in there somewhere. I know it.

There is a shocking absence of wrapped gifts beneath the tree. A few well-meaning relatives on Pete's side topped off their wedding gifts to us with Christmas packages, which are now waiting to be opened at some rather distant day when we're not tired of opening packages.

My curiosity is not even piqued.

Neither is my imagination when it comes to figuring out what to get for the people in my life. People including my husband. Who gave me *my* Christmas present early. *shakes head* Now I have nothing to look forward to.

Mom and I are still trying to schedule Christmas when the whole family will be around, with the Keke going to Oregon for the holiday and the new family home taking its own sweet time to pass the building inspection so they can get a certificate of occupancy. The idea that "I'll Be Home for Christmas" is definitely in my dreams right now.

I suppose we've had a bit of the holidays with the cookie smell that has invaded the house for a few days off and on this month. But that smell is always followed by the guilt of eating said cookies (including the obvious evidence that I have actually forgotten how to cook since leaving home--how many batches can I goof up?), and the disillusionment of realizing that the holiday diet is not all it's cracked up to be. I'm reaching the point where I feel I shouldn't dare to attempt the cinnamon rolls I was going to bake.

I'm moving Christmas to JUNE, people. This year, I'm planning on crawling into a hole with my new husband, praying for snow and a lot of ice so we can't get out or go do anything, and I'm going to sleep through Christmas. Hibernation. Yes. This is appealing. I have no inspiration this year.

Just had to get that out of my system.

Shocking! Appalling! Outrageous! Untennable! Disengenuous! I mean to say, really! How can such unseasonalishness be born? I tell you it can't be born, and won't. Now that I've got that out of my system...I'm right in the same boat with you. I haven't even put my ornaments on the tree yet. Amazing isn't it? Not quite sure what's up with that, but I figure it'll come down eventually. In the meanwhile, I'll try to be self-motivated and wish you a very cozy, wassail-laden, cookie-filled, Merry Christmas! :-)

Kelly hated Christmas!

The whole Christmas season!

Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason.

It could be that her head wasn't screwed on quite right.

It could be, perhaps, that her shoes were to tight.

But I think that the most likely reason of all

May have been that her heart was two sizes too small.

Just couldn't resist! :)

WOW, so it wasn't just me this year! This post makes me feel better. Though, I think I had a good reason. Since we had court the very first Mon of Dec. I'd been stressed for months (especially since he had postponed the date only to cuddle up to her folks and make her his new girlfriend). I was feeling sick the weekend of court, and basically just slept the whole fellowing week. Then I realized how backed up I was on decore and gifts. I also wasn't in the spirit to write the Christmas letter this year. So, I waited until days before. LOL! O, I didn't mail you one because I don't have your new address.
Well, that year is over and done with, and Christmas will end in 5 more days, on Jan 6th. - E
