God Has a Sense of Humor, Part II

Monday, November 6, 2006

A couple of months ago, I decided to quit my job.

About a month later, God started convicting Pete and me to trust Him with our lives--especially the timing of the beginning of our family.

Last month, God led me away from professional photography.

The week before last, He didn't give me a peace about pouring my life into my job.

The Sunday before last, He told me to rest, and reminded me not to be ashamed of the desires He gives me.

Last week, I found out He'd had something up His sleeve all along.

We're calling the baby Weebix for now.

I want twins.

And I have a tummy already.

Also, it's not the water, and my husband doesn't send me flowers for special occasions. He sends me flowers when he is really trying to surprise me with them. Because I always know when he goes into Giant that he's picking them up for me.

But I like that he gets me flowers.

And I like that we're going to have a baby.

A lot has happened in my life over the last six or so years. There are memories that will stay with me forever, dreams that have come and gone, and disappointments that keep me ducking and waiting for more. I'm not ready to be a "mom." I'm not grown up yet. But I have lived. And God is still good.

No matter what.

I love you Kel!!

Oh, my mom still says she doesn't feel "grown up" yet, and by the beginning of the year she'll have thirteen grandchildren.

I wasn't ready to be a mom, either. I don't think God waits until you're ready. He just helps you get that way! Congratulations! Once you have a baby, your life changes, and as a whole you won't want to go back to the life you had before.

Call me crazy, but I think no one ever really grows up. There are just those that wont admit it and those at that do and embrace the simple joys in life, like driving through a car wash or watching bubbles float around the room. I choose to believe that God leaves a certain amount of innocence and laughter in us, not only for our sanity but for our children. They need to see the lighter side in their parents, along with the healty dose of fear and respect. ;o) Dont worry, you two will make good parents.
