too young for this

Dear Weebix,

Dad and I feel very young to be having you. We realize that we're older than a few people we've known, older than my parents were when they had me, and the same age his parents were when they had their first.

But we feel very young.

It doesn't help that when we go to birthing classes and appointments in this area, the couples having their first babies are all in their mid-thirties. I suppose they've lived their lives and sowed their oats and want to settle down and have kids to further populate the earth now that they're ready for something new.

We weren't expecting you to come along when you did, Weebix, but we had decided to leave it up to God to pick His timing to bring a little one into our lives. From the beginning, people have told us to "enjoy your last [whatever]" and they have cautioned us over their own misbehaving little ones that "this is what you have to look forward to!"

Funny, but even though we feel so young, we don't feel like our lives are ending with you. You're a part of us, and we're going to take you along with us on this merry-go-round ride of a life we have from God. We don't know where we're going to end up or how we're going to raise you--not really.

We hope you don't mind if we just approach this whole baby thing a moment at a time and take in all the wonder and joy of watching you grow!

And really, I guess compared to you, we're not that young, huh
