Cooking in His House

Thursday, January 31, 2008

So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”

~2 Kings 4:2

I laughed internally when I saw this verse - that is my philosophy on dinner lately, more because I never get around to grocery shopping than because of any real bareness in this young mother's cupboard.

The rest of the story encouraged me, though. Right now, even grace seems in low supply for my heart when it comes to dealing with possible future physical needs. I know that I'm not supposed to worry about tomorrow, that God will provide a job and a house and food for us to eat in three months when we need to move out of here, but when has the "not supposed to" ever stopped me?

This is me, learning to trust a God who can cook up a miracle out of one jar of oil to provide for His maidservant and her family.

Dear Kelly,
You don't know me but I wanted to tell you that your blogspot after your husband did not pass his barexam has been a great help for me while my husband is unemployed,"not trusting in the bar,but trusting in God".
May the lord give us both grace
to keep trusting Him,my sister.
btw: I also think your photography is exquisite.
