prayer for the morning

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
~Psalm 143:8

Pete and I stayed up late to talk last night, and I told him how I want to live authentic, without the narration or the mental ticker-tape that tells me how I should respond or what I should be feeling. It was a quietly life-altering kind of conversation, two hearts meeting, reaching for the other to find them there. We talked from where we are, shared where we each want to be, remembered together that today is today and tomorrow is for God to hold.

This morning I woke early; this was the prayer that began my rainy day, the quiet lifting up of myself to Him. I wonder, how is it that our spirits know things we can never define about HOW to reach for Him? I suppose that it must be His Spirit in me...
