There is this funny little gender predictor out there called the Chinese Gender Chart. Google it. It's kinda fun, once you figure out all the lunar month/lunar year stuff. For instance, I turned 27 in March, but I am actually 28 in Chinese lunar years. Anyway, this gender predictor chart uses your lunar age in conjunction with your month of conception to predict which gender you will have.

My dilemma is this: I was born in March, the month we conceived. So I was both 26 and 27 (or 27 and 28?) in the same month that Button was conceived. This wouldn't be such an issue if the gender prediction didn't change from age to age (at lunar age 27, it would be a boy, at lunar age 28, it would be a girl).

On one site that uses old wives tales, I'm getting a 62% boy prediction, on another (detailed a bit more below), a 60% girl prediction. I've not heard a heartbeat yet, so I've nothing more to go on.

And yet, for the simple humor of the thing I have decided to take votes. I'm wildly curious as to whether any of my readers has a thought one way or the other as to what we're having. I can guess it for just about anybody but myself (Piper was supposed to be a boy), so here's a throw-out to woman's intuition - can you guess?

Oy. And when you leave your guess, just for fun, throw in a name you like for the gender you guess!

----------------------

You are carrying the extra weight out front, so it's a boy.
The hair on your legs is growing faster during pregnancy, so it's a boy.
Boys are carried low. You are going to have a boy.
Sleeping in a bed with your pillow to the south indicates that you will be having a girl.
Your feet are not colder than they were before pregnancy. You are having a girl.
You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread. You are having a girl.
Dad-to-be is gaining weight right along with Mom-to-be, which means that you'll have a boy.
The maternal grandmother doesn't have gray hair (dyed or natural), so a girl will be born.
You had morning sickness early in pregnancy, so you are expecting a girl.
You are looking particularly good during pregnancy. Therefore, it must be a boy, because girls steal their mother's looks.
Your chest development has not been very dramatic during pregnancy. You should expect a boy.
Since the sum of the mother's age at conception and the number of the month of conception is even, it will be a boy.
A needle on a thread held over your belly moves in circles, so you will have a boy.
Your urine is a dull yellow color, so you will have a girl.
You are craving sweets, which means that it is a girl.
Your nose hasn't changed during pregnancy, which indicates a girl.
You have been craving fruits, so it is a girl.
You must have orange juice every day, so it's a girl.
You show them the palm of your hand, so it's a girl.
You use the body of the mug, so it's a girl.

I always guess based on food cravings - are you craving fruit or proteins? It looks like fruit from the details you listed, so I'm guessing it's a girl. :-) I feel so lost on the name thing, though...how about Ellie?

OK, I'm going to guess a boy. My reasoning? I just figure there's a 50% I could be right. Hee Hee! :) Anyway, my favorite boy names are Noah, Jack, and I think Henry is cute.

I used to be good at this, but I'm not anymore... so I'm going to go on what I want it to be... since I would so love another girl, I'm voting girl for you.

Aren't they dear?

I love to have mine next to me in the kitchen, her little apron on, her nose poking into the pots on the stove, her fingers smearing flour on the counter and then being licked off... I want more of those, so I hope you do, too! :)

Blessings, friend. (((you)))

The only one of these wives tales I've seen to seem true is the way you carry the baby, but you can't tell that until later in the pregnancy. So I'm gonna go by pure instinct and say girl. :-) And the first name that pops randomly into my head is Elana (which I've never considered before myself, but I think it's pretty).

I'm going to guess boy. I don't know why for sure but maybe because everyone around me who has been having babies is having boys :) That and I'm so madly in love with my baby boy (and my big girl) that I wish the same family structure on you!

Of course, I too am partial to the name Jack - since I have one of my own. We also love Max, Grayson, and Nicholas.

Enjoy your second trimester!

I'm hoping you have a boy for variety's sake and because sisters need brothers. Of course, this goes the other way also...sisters need sisters too. :-)

One of my fav boy names is Gideon. :-p

LOL!! I am going to be a stick-in-the-mud and not even guess. :-p Heck...I can't even guess at what we are having! I did the whole Chinese gender predictor thing, and it cracked me up 'cause it was the same way...one way if you add nine months to your birthdate, and the other if you didn't.
Ah well...the excitement of it all! :-)

>You had morning sickness early in pregnancy, so you are expecting a girl.<

I don't know anything about the other things listed, but I do know that I had morning sickness with my boy and not a bit of sickness with my 3 girls!! (Not that I think sickness or no sickness has anything to do with which gender is developing in the womb.)

p.s. If this Chinese calendar thing is correct, I would have two boys right now. Lol.

Ohh I think a boy. And boy names I like - Chrisitan, but Im a little bias since thats my sons name! Hehe.
The chinese chart was correct for my son, but I couldn't do it with my daughter since I got pregnant with her when I was only 17, and the charts don't go down to that age bracket - I guess the chinese waited until you were over 18 huh? hehe
You had morning sickness which would mean a girl, but for me it was the other way around - no morning sickness with Madelyn, plenty with Christian.
:-)

Girl, and I go for the name Elizabeth, with the middle name Ann.

I say twins...boy AND girl!! :0) I'd give you my favorite names, but there is the slightest, slightest chance you might actually use them, thus stealing my future children's names...so I'll have to get back to you on this! ;)
Love ya!

I too am rooting for a boy purely for variety's sake. I love the name Nathan (or the longer version Nathaniel)... then you could give him the awesome middle name Nutmegger in honor of your hubby's homestate.
Nathaniel Nutmegger Sauer. That, my friend, is a hands-down winner.

I am going to jump on the boy bandwagon. But no reason in particular, I just think you would be an amazing mama to a boy!

Thank you for you kind comment yesterday. It meant so much.:)

...do noses often change during pregnancy?

*wanders off and is just generally weirded out by the whole thought of pregnancy again*

(I vote twins, one of each gender, and leave names to you) ;-)
