Stolen Moment - Unwrapped

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

She fell asleep on me the other day.

This is normal, our afternoon nap routine. I turn on a movie or a TV show that bores her to sleep and keeps me on the couch for a couple of hours to rest. I'm not so good at sitting down and resting.

But the waking - that was different.

She turned toward me with a soft, happy gasp as she opened her eyes. "Mommy?"

I smiled and told her "I'm here."

And she smiled back and cuddled into me with one of her sweetest hugs, perfectly content to be with me.

It doesn't happen often. I unwrap it again and again.

My friend Emily at Chatting at the Sky hosts a weekly "noticing" party - giving us a chance to unwrap and share the little gifts (and the big ones!) God gives to us in the midst of our dailiness.

It is good for me, this learning to notice Him.

Do you have a gift to unwrap today? Stop on by and link up with Emily, and share in the (mostly) paperless unwrapping!

I miss those days! It's great when they grow up but moments like that are hard to come by when they outgrow your lap.

Beautiful. I love it when the kids snuggle. It's a little slice of Heaven.

Oh to have those afternoon naps with my babies. My youngest is still cuddly, though no longer nappy. I try to soak it all in, but I fear I won't truly savor it until it is gone.

I used to love napping on the couch with my boys, especially on a chilly winter day under a fleece blanket. Alas, the napping days are over -- but I still have the memories!

It's wonderful that you appreciate those little moments. They are gone in the blink of an eye.

Oh I revel in those moments. And hoard them as my little boy gets bigger and bigger. Cuddles are stolen treasure.

I'm not a mom yet (which is good as I'm pretty sure I'm not ready to be one yet), but stories like this from bloggie friends and my real-life friends makes me think there is definitely something to look forward to. Enjoy your sweet naptime and waking up moments.

What a beautiful moment...I cherish those moments with my children, too. I sometimes wish they happened more often, but then I reconsider...I probably wouldn't appreciate them as much is they happened too often.

So sweet! Family naptime is by far the best naptime of all.

I am thinking how interesting it must be to be a photographer AND a mother. You will have a collection of professional quality shots of each of your children throughout their years. We mostly have snapshots -- you know, the home-baked kind.

Not only can you record with your words, but you will have the pictures to accompany the words. These will be priceless heirlooms for the family.

How's that for unwrapping?

Sweet. Cherish those little gifts. My girls are teenagers now (one almost in college!) and I so want those little moments of cuddling back sometimes. You actally brought it back with those words and photo.
